WHO IS SHE?

Kina Fan is a fashion, costume, and product designer who creates bold designs inspired by art and everyday life. When styling, she develops looks that play with eras, shapes, sizes, and textures while maintaining a clean, sleek, and balanced aesthetic.

EXPERIENCES

Costume / Styling

    • Lead Costume Designer for the series, designing costumes for each episode and character.

    • Develop character-specific looks that support the story and visual direction.

    • Source vintage and contemporary pieces, including collaborations with local vintage stores.

    • Manage fittings, styling, wardrobe preparation, and costume continuity on set.

    • Lead Costume Designer for the short film, overseeing the overall costume design and visual direction.

    • Design and source costumes that reflect the characters and story.

    • Coordinate fittings, styling, wardrobe preparation, and on-set continuity.

  • A cinematic editorial inspired by Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, as embodied by Angelina Jolie. Channeling the fearless essence of the iconic adventurer , a woman of unshakable strength, razor-sharp intellect, and untamed courage.The styling fuses rugged utility with sculpted silhouettes, weathered textures, and subtle metallic accents, while each pose conveys precision, confidence, and unapologetic strength. This reimagining captures a modern warrior, daring and commanding, which ultimately reflects how women carry power with elegance and sexiness.

    • Styled an editorial photoshoot, photographed by Jorge Foley (GQ, Numéro, Metal Magazine) and directed by Annalise Vujobich.

    • Styled an editorial photoshoot with model Bella Butcher, that features in DJ Jacky P’s film “ART POL” episode 1

    • Styled an editorial photoshoot that features in art director Nancy Hogan’s magazine

    • Costume & Tailoring Intern — Doechii’s Grammy Award Outfits

    • Assisted with tailoring, sewing, and fittings.

    • Built a tailored stage suit with Velcro for rapid costume changes.

  • Inspired by costume designer Rudi Gernreich’s work in the 1968 film Skidoo, worn by Donyale Luna, this green dress reimagines the original silhouette through a fitted batwing form and deep V open back. Cut in 4-way stretch knit for ease and movement, it is fully lined and designed for a grass-field wedding setting.

Fashion

    • Designed and constructed an experimental couture draping collection in silk taffeta with boning and horsehair, inspired by 1950s–60s glamour and expressed through structured geometric forms.

    • Help the organisers to set up the fashion show, e.g. decorating booths, and arranging seating for guests.

    • Designed and constructed a neutral-tone abstract couture draping collection in silk wool twill, denim twill, and horsehair, inspired by Brancusi’s aesthetic and philosophy.

    • Designed and constructed Resort 2024 swimsuits and cover-ups inspired by Acapulco’s Golden Era and Arango House architecture, using monochromatic palettes and specialty fabrics for performance and form.

    • Designed a character-inspired (widowmaker) activewear collection and presented it on a virtual runway using CLO 3D.

    • Created three sustainable textile pieces using soy-based and eco-friendly fabrics, exploring durability, drape, and surface design.

    • Assisted backstage and front-of-house with styling and model prep.

    • Developed concepts, designed, produced, and managed fittings for in-school fashion show competitions.

    • Built a brand through end-to-end product development using wood laser cutting, and 3D printing.

    • Evaluated workmanship against commercial and aesthetic benchmarks, strengthening skills in upholding brand standards in a retail setting.

Product

    • Exhibited 3 industrial product designs (Corset Stool, Melrose Candleholder, Freefall Chandelier) at Otis College as a fashion major and product design minor student.

  • Exhibited a skateboard design made from scratch at Otis College.
